Why Can't Chandigarh Be More Like....?
Will it ever stop? This morning it was, "Why Can't Chandigarh be More Like Dubai or Singapore?" In this case, the paper was referring to the status of the aforementioned cities as shopping meccas. Also in the paper was, "Why Can't Chandigarh be More Like Bangalore?" This time referring to the technology prowess of the south Indian city.
One of my trainee roommates said it best this morning..."Why Can't Chandigarh be More Like Chandigarh?"
I'll keep a running list of all the cities Chandigarh wants to be like. So far, it looks like this:
Boston
Toronto
Dubai/Singapore
Bangalore
On another note, I finally set up the RSS feed for this site. The link/address is on the right-hand side under "Links."

Where did you get that info that Toronto is the world's best city to live in? Must have come out of Toronto...
From www.canada.com:
"Vancouver is the world's most 'liveable' place, according to a recent survey, while Toronto and Calgary were ranked No. 9 and 10 respectively on the list.
The Economist Intelligence Unit said its 'liveability ranking,' part of the Worldwide Cost of Living Survey, assesses living conditions in 127 cities around the world by looking at nearly 40 individual indicators grouped into five categories: stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education and infrastructure.
With a low crime rate, little threat from instability or terrorism and a highly developed infrastructure, the survey said that Canada has the most liveable destinations in the world.
With a rating of just 1 per cent, as a result of a small threat from petty crime, Vancouver is the highest ranked city. Montreal also scored high on the list, at No. 16.
At the other end of the table were Port Moresby, the dilapidated, crime-ridden capital of Papua, New Guinea, and Algiers in Algeria.
Overall, the vast majority of attractive destinations were in Canada, Australia and Western Europe.
Tokyo, at No. 17, was ranked the best city to live in Asia. Other top-ranking Asian cities included Hong Kong, Seoul and Taipei."
Hmm... I just read your blog again. I could have sworn that you had previusly said that Toronto had been declared to be the best city in the world to live. Did you change it?
So scrap the first paragraph and just read the rest for fun.
Thanks for the info. I was looking at a 2002 version of that list from the EIU...Vancouver was also #1 along with Melbourne.
As for Toronto being #1, I was simply going by what the local "unbiased" paper was saying. Maybe the editor has a brother in Toronto or something....
I think i'll post the official list just to clear everything up.
